BJP Kerala Vice President C. Krishnakumar faces sexual assault allegation

C. Krishnakumar, the BJP’s Kerala Vice President and a long-time Hindutva figure in Palakkad district, is facing a grave sexual assault allegation from a relative who, in her complaint to BJP Kerala President Rajeev Chandrasekhar, alleged that he assaulted her several years ago.
She stated that she had also approached the RSS state office in Elamakkara, represented by Gopalankutty Master, and submitted her grievance to leaders V. Muraleedharan, M.T. Ramesh, and Subhash (then Organisation General Secretary).
According to her, all the leaders assured her that strict action would be taken and justice would be delivered. However, no action was taken, and her complaint was ignored.
She further said that she felt humiliated and abandoned. The complaint explicitly mentions allegations against Rahul and asserts that Krishnakumar lacked the moral authority to lead protests against him. She demanded his expulsion from the party.
Krishnakumar, however, refuted the charges, claiming, “This is nothing but a property dispute involving my wife’s sister. It’s a fake case created to strengthen their claims.”
He alleged that the complaint was revived as part of a Congress-led conspiracy, possibly involving former BJP leader and current Congress spokesperson Sandeep G. Varier, to undermine his protests against Mankootathil.
Countering his statement, BJP leader Sandeep Varier said, “This is not a property dispute, it is outright property grabbing.”
Varier also stated that the Prime Minister’s Office ordered an investigation against Krishnakumar on April 22, 2025, which is ongoing in the SP’s office, and noted that the sexual harassment case was not acquitted, contrary to Krishnakumar’s claims.
He further said, “The survivor is a ray of hope for all others. She studied law and became a lawyer to fight her own case.”
He demanded that a case must also be filed against Krishnakumar for revealing her identity.
Despite her courage, he said, the survivor continues to be slut-shamed and harassed on social media. “If she has come out to fight, then it is the responsibility of Kerala to stand with her,” Varier further stressed.
He also posted a suggestive message on social media questioning whether the BJP would act against a core committee member, as the Congress did with Mankootathil.
The Indian National Congress (INC) in Kerala took to X to lash out at the BJP after the allegations.
The BJP state president’s office confirmed receipt of the complaint, with Chandrasekhar, who was in Bengaluru, stating that action would be considered upon his return.
Meanwhile, BJP workers have rallied in support of Krishnakumar, dismissing the allegations as a “bomb that never went off” — a phrase directly referencing a statement by Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan — and posters defending him have appeared in Palakkad.
The controversy has escalated political tensions in Kerala, especially as it follows the BJP’s campaign against Congress MLA Rahul Mankootathil, who has been facing sexual harassment allegations from several women. Rahul was suspended from the party following the outrage.
