Nationwide solidarity protests for Palestine held across India

Protests in solidarity with Palestine have been taking place in different parts of India, with the National Capital – Delhi – and cities like Kolkata witnessing large gatherings of people joining in.
Nationwide demonstrations were organized in support of the Global Sumud Flotilla.
With the joint efforts of multiple people’s movements and mass organisations, protests were held in various urban areas under the banner of Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine (IPSP) as part of the ongoing Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign.
A large number of youth, citizens, and progressive groups such as Disha Students’ Union, Naujwan Bharat Sabha, Bharatiya Biplobi Sramik Party, Stri Mukti League, and the Delhi State Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union also joined the demonstrations.
Protest gatherings were organised in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Chandigarh, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Kolkata, and other cities, once again underscoring the widespread support in India for the Palestinian freedom struggle.
“Despite the peaceful and humanitarian nature of the flotilla carrying food and medical supplies, two drone attacks have already been launched on the boats, which once again highlights the violent and illegal nature of Israel’s occupation. Previous flotillas were also either intercepted or attacked and the volunteers were either deported or imprisoned in inhumane conditions,” a joint statement by the organisations said.
Speaking on behalf of the IPSP, Vishal condemned the attacks. He said, “The unwavering determination of all those present on the Sumud flotilla proves that no imperialist alliance has the power to break the unity and morale of the just people. The strength of global solidarity stands undefeated in the face of the all-powerful imperialist bond,” he added.
