Israel says Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani killed

Israel’s Defence Minister Katz has said Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani has been killed.
The Israeli army also said it killed Basij force commander Gholamreza Soleimani in an attack last night.
Iran has not commented on the claims yet.
“The leaders of the regime are being killed and their capabilities terminated,” said Katz.
If Larijani’s assassination is confirmed by Iran, it would be the most prominent assassination in the country since the US and Israel started the war with a strike that hit the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iranian state media published a handwritten note by Larijani; it is not clear whether it is intended as proof of life.
Larijani’s note, published on his social media outlets, commemorates the memory of Iranian sailors killed, whose funeral is expected to be held on Tuesday, in the US attack on their boat in international waters.
Larijani was last seen publicly on Friday, attending the al-Quds Day rally in support of Palestinians in Tehran, along with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Larijani, who has been a political figure in the Iranian hierarchy for years, at one time leading the nation’s nuclear negotiations with the West, was also previously the Iranian Speaker of Parliament.
