Political prisoner Rona Wilson's father passes away

Rona Wilson

The father of Rona Wilson-  a noted prison-rights activist who is in jail under draconian UAPA in Elgar Parishad case- has died Wednesday night.

Rona Wilson, a 50-year-old activist from Kolam district in Kerala, was arrested on 17 April 2018 by the Pune Police under draconian UAPA for his alleged role in the violence at the Bhima Koregaon memorial in January that year.

The investigative journalists later found "evidence" was planted in Wilson's computer, using malware, and this led to his own arrest and many including the country's most prominent human rights defenders.

Wilson couldn't see his father before his death though he had sough to quash the chargesheet on the grounds that the ‘incriminating evidence’ investigators found on his computer was planted.
