MP: Three arrested for molesting woman at tribal festival
Days after a group of men were recorded sexually harassing a woman during a tribal festival in Madhya Pradesh’s Alirajpur district, three people were taken into custody, reports The Indian Express.
The incident took place on 11 March while celebrating Bhagoria – a week-long festival linked with Holi in tribal-dominated districts in western Madhya Pradesh.
The disturbing video drew outrage on social media. The video was reposted by Twitter handle Tribal Army demanding police action. Tribal Army claims it's a Tribal woman.
The video was viewed over 1.4 million times that profile.
Two other men are also detained for filming and uploading the video on social media.
Three people accused of groping the woman are residents of Alirajpur district, police told The Indian Express.
Police took action based on the online video and registered an FIR under Section 354 of the IPC — assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty.
