MP: No curfew relaxation for Eid in Khargone

The district administration of Khargone in Madhya Pradesh, where anti-Muslim violence broke out last month during Ram Navami, has decided against any relaxation to curfew on the occasion of Eid Ul Fitr on Tuesday.

“Eid prayers will be done at home,” the district administration said in a statement on Monday. It claims that the decision has been taken with the consent of people from all communities.

Restrictions are imposed on Akshaya Tritiya festivals as well.

So far, the administration has been relaxing the curfew for a few hours each day, depending on the situation.

Officials said that around 1,000 additional police personnel, including 300 Rapid Action Force personnel, have been stationed in the city since April 10.

Drone cameras and 171 CCTVs have been deployed to monitor the situation in the city. Temporary jails have been set up for those who violate the curfew.
