The ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday questioned Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan’s meeting with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat in Thrissur on Saturday night.

“Now we can understand reasons behind his recent outbursts. The Governor has denigrated his position by calling on Bhagwat at the house of a local RSS leader in Thirssur flouting all protocols,” said senior CPI(M) leader M V Jayarajan.

Jayarajan’s statement comes amid tension between Kerala's Left Government and Governor Khan.

Jayarajan alleged that Khan was behaving like a Sangh Parivar leader.

The governor’s office also confirmed that Khan had a brief meeting with Bhagwat at around 8 PM.

“The Governor held a brief meeting with the RSS chief. It was a courtesy call. It was a pre-planned meeting," a senior official from the governor's office told PTI.

The Left party in Kerala have been charging Khan with unleashing 'false campaigns' against the State government.
