Former UP Chief Minister and veteran socialist leader Mulayam Singh Yadav is still critical and on life-saving drugs, the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram where he is admitted has said.

Samajwadi Party founder is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit by a comprehensive team of specialists, the hospital said in a statement.

Singh who was admitted in the hospital near Delhi last month, he was shifted to the Critical Care Unit on 2 October after his condition deteriorated.

Singh's wife Sadhna Gupta died in July.

Singh served for three non-consecutive terms as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and also served as the Minister of Defence, at Government of India. A long-time parliamentarian, he is currently the Member of Parliament, representing the constituency of Mainpuri in the Lok Sabha, and has also earlier served as the Member of Parliament from Azamgarh and Sambhal constituencies. He is often referred to as Netaji (meaning respected leader in Hindi) by party leaders and workers.
