Ram Temple is constructed on Babri Masjid land, says SDPI

Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) national secretariat held at Bengaluru on 19 January observed that the land on which the Ram temple has been built is the Waqf land of Babri Masjid and it will remain so, despite the construction of a temple on the land.

“The Supreme Court in its final verdict that awarded the land for temple construction has unequivocally confirmed this fact in the same judgement, apart from stating that installation of Ram Lalla in 1949 inside the Masjid and demolition of the Masjid in 1992 were illegal,” it said.

The statement added: “Construction of temple on other's land is unethical and against the tenets of any religion.”

The Ram temple stands where the historic Babri Masjid, which was torn down by a mob of Hindu nationalists led by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bharatiya Janata Party on 6 December, 1992, earlier stood. The construction began after the Supreme Court of India on 9 November 2019 ordered the entire land to be allocated for the temple, granting amnesty to the perpetrators of the mosque demolition.
