Everyone in Gaza is hungry, says UN chief

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has renewed his call for unrestricted humanitarian access throughout Gaza in an X post.

“Everyone in Gaza is hungry. 1.7 million people have been displaced,” he said.

“The humanitarian system in collapsing. I call for rapid, safe, unhindered, expanded and sustained humanitarian access throughout Gaza,” he added.

He made a similar appeal on Wednesday during a speech at the UN before the organisation’s head of humanitarian relief, Martin Griffiths, said the entry of aid into Gaza was still being blocked.

At least 27,019 people have been killed and 66,139 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.
