Belgian City of Liege displays Palestinian flag on Bueren Stairs
Pro-Palestine activists painted the famous Bueren stairs in the Belgian city of Liege with the colors of the Palestinian flag overnight in solidarity with the people of Gaza who are enduring the wrath of the genocidal war by Israel.
The city of Liege had cut ties with the Israel back in April 2023 for running a regime of apartheid in Palestine.
Previously, trade unions in Belgium have rejected arms exports to "Israel" in a reflection of the worldwide support the Palestinian cause has garnered since October 7.
There have been tensions between Israel and Belgium as Israel summoned the Belgian envoy in September 2023 following remarks made by Belgium’s Minister for International Development, Caroline Gennez. Gennez had alleged that "entire [Palestinian] villages are being wiped off the map by the Israelis.”
