In a new development in the India-China border tensions, the Chinese army is rapidly building its military infrastructure inside India-claimed zones, intelligence reports said on Friday.

China has reportedly fortified its positions at multiple transgression points in eastern Ladakh, The Telegraph said in a report.

According to ground reports, the Chinese army has increased the pace of its infrastructure development  inside India-claimed lines in the Depsang Plains and have strengthened its military positions at other transgression points.

The People’s Liberation Army is said to be building additional highways and roads in the Depsang Plains and it has also sped up the construction of military infrastructure along the north and south banks of the Pangong Lake within India-claimed lines in eastern Ladakh.

With no resolution to The border standoff  began in May 2020, continues till date with no resolution in sight.

Due to the tensions in the region, the Indian Army has also set up its military posts in the mountainous terrain and increased deployment to counteract Chinese advances.

Though China has partially agreed to disengage from the Galwan Valley, Pangong Lake, Hot Springs and Gogra on its own terms, it has so far refused to withdraw from the Depsang Plains.

At present, a buffer zone has been created as part of the disengagement agreement between both armies.

According to the agreement, an equal distance must be maintained between the armies. While the Chinese army takes position within lines claimed by India, the Indian army steps back further within its own territory.
