Two migrant workers from Bihar shot dead in Manipur

Two migrant labourers from Bihar were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Meitei-dominated Kakching district of Manipur on Saturday, police said.

The incident occurred in the Keirak area around 5:20 pm on Saturday. The victims have been identified as Sunalal Kumar (18) and Dasharat Kumar (17), both from Bihar’s Gopalganj.

According to the police, the two were attacked while returning to their rented accommodation after finishing work.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the labourers were rushed to a nearby hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

The police have registered an ‘unnatural death’ case and are yet to make any arrests. A probe is underway to determine the motive behind the killings.

Meanwhile, no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Earlier in May, a labourer from Jharkhand was shot dead, and two others sustained bullet injuries following a shooting incident at Naoremthong Khumanthem Leikai.
